girls camp picture overload

Sunday, July 24, 2011

oh man.

do you remember girls camp?

well, ours was a little different.

we had a pool.  actually it was called an OOL... notice, there's no P in it!

we had the opportunity to do baptisms for the dead here

giant Yogi Bear at camp.  He's great.

skit night was unforgettable.  Olivia is one of my all time favorite people.  Here, she's the bearded Princess Sebutts.

this was in Manti.  I took this for you, Jordz.  Viva DJ Cream Puff!

more skits!  shoulder angel was awesome!

and we can't forget the ropes course

this is my dear friend Rileigh.  Oh, how I adore this girl.

she wanted to do this.
and with a little help, she did.  it was incredible.  we were all in tears by the time she was finished.  we were all so proud of her.

it was full of singing around the campfire.

girls camp was amazing.  and let me tell you.  my little beehives are incredible.  i love them dearly.  and even though i came home with a zillion mosquito bites and a sunburn i would not trade spending time with them for anything!

an imagineer's advice

Sunday, July 24, 2011

have you ever been to disneyland?

all the little details they put into everything

the cool ways they present everything with magnificent colors, animatronics, and music?  Heck, even the lamp posts have an explosion of detail.

everything seems to have a twinge of

disney magic.

disney magic. of course!

let me let you in on a little secret.

disney imagineers make the magic happen. it doesn't just happen by itself.

(imaginer+engineer=imagineer)

i know, blasphemy, right?

but imagineers make the impossible possible every day.

i'm reading this book-- the imagineering workout.

i feel like it could be applied to more than just being creative.

take setting goals for instance.

the trick is to actually starting.

go and do.

listen to this:

even Mary Poppins said A job begun is half done.

Whatever you hope to accomplish, from sorting the laundry to starging the great American Novel, [or graduating college], just dive in and start doing as Walt Disney said... Sometimes it's important to start even before you have a chance to start thinking.

So ball up that first pair of socks from the laundry, type that first sentence of the masterpiece, [sign up for next semester].  Once you start, the juices begin to flow whether you're aware of it or not, and it's only a matter of time before you're doing your best work and the task is finished.

i love it!  thanks again, disney!

but we got dreams

Have you heard this song from Shrek The Musical?!... Oh my word.  I looove it.

If you don't want to listen to it, read the lyrics.  They are so funny and sometimes I totally feel the same way.  Hilarious!

There’s a princess in a tower
Oh my gosh, that’s just like me!
Poor Rapunzel
Needs a haircut
But the witch won’t set her free
She passes time by singing
Like someone else I know
As years go by she sits and waits…

As years go by?... Uh oh

A torturous existence
I don’t remember this part!
She wishes she were dead?
Skip ahead skip ahead!

But in the end Rapunzel finds a millionaire
The prince is good at climbing and braiding golden hair!

So I know, he’ll appear
Cause there are rules and there are strictures
I believe the storybooks I read by candlelight
My white knight, and his steed
Will look just like these pictures!
It won’t be long now, I guarantee!

Day number…23.

I know its today

There’s a princess In a coma
Glad its her instead of me.
Pretty maiden In a glass box
How I wonder does she pee?
Blah blah blah, poison apple
Boring boring evil queen
Filler filler, been there, read that!
Seven shorties on the scene.
Skip ahead, skip ahead…

But in the end the princess wakes up with a start
The prince is good at kissing
And melting Snow White’s heart!

So I know, he’ll appear
And his armor will be blinding!
As shining as his perfect teeth
And manly hose
He’ll propose
On one knee
And our prenupt will be binding!
About time we set a wedding date!

Day number…958.

I know it's today
He’ll show up today....

There’s a princess
Any princess
Take your pick, they’re all like me
Not exactly, I’m still waiting
they’re living happily
Ever after better get here
I want love in seconds flat
No one needs these middle bits

Oops, did I do that?

Cut the villains, cut the vamping
Cut this fairytale
Cut the peril and the pitfalls
Cut the puppet and the whale
Cut the monsters, cut the curses
Keep the intro, cut the verses
And the waiting, the waiting, the waiting, the waiting

The WAITING!
But I know, he’ll appear
Though I seem a bit bipolar
And I’m a vandal now as well, though he won’t mind
I’m a find, I’m a catch
And a very gifted bowler!
It won’t be long now, I guarantee!

Day number…

Are you there God?
It’s me Fiona…

Now I know, he’ll appear
Cause there are rules and there are strictures
I believe the storybooks I read by candlelight
My white knight, my knight and his steed
Will look just like these pictures!

It won’t be long now, I guarantee!

Carry On Wayward Goose: Friend Feature: Brady Dalton

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Brady speaking here.
First off I would like to say this is a re-post from my blog.

Since is Erin is going on vacation I thought a story about a goose who was on a vacation that it didnt mean to be on would be the most fitting of my blog posts..

Oh and I would also like to say I think Erin is one of the coolest people I know. She rules. :) Anywho..

This is a story about a wayward goose.. named Stewart Turkeylink..

Last night I was driving in the car with my friend Brad.. it was midnight and with the Sabbath being over we decided to go and get a beverage from 7-11. As we were pulling out of our apartment complex we were talking, listening to music and having a good time and all of a sudden we both stopped talking for a moment because we both saw the same thing at the same time.. we saw Stewart Turkeylink, a wayward goose walking in the middle of the road. Keep in mind there are no parks close by to us.. no other geese anywhere.. no gosling.. just apartment, concrete, and automobiles.. and also a college kid who lives in the apartment complex across from us I assume just standing by his car smiling at the same situation we were beholding.. it must have been a sheer nightmare for Stewart.

Remember as well that this is Logan, Utah.

It should be spring but it has been snowing, rainy, and decently cold more often then not so far this spring so geese aren't seem to much around this time of year. We didn't know what to think..

Brad said "holy crap that's a goose" and I slowed down to a stop.. watched Stewart waddle past us and waddle slowly and then keep moving across the street.. I honked to see if I could get him to fly or move quicker so he wasn't walking slow across a busy road but to no avail it worked.. Stewart was also very dirty.

A normal goose should be white and healthy looking like the picture above but Stewart was dirty.. probably hungry and probably far from his home. His wife and children must have been worried sick. His mother is probably in a goose hospital because of a heart attack from Stewart being missing. Oh the stories that this goose could tell. That is the reason I wrote this post is because I would like us all to remember Stewart Turkeylink in our thoughts and prayers.

Brad and I considered taking him in but then realized that would be a bad idea.. but my heart goes out to him.

Where was his flock?

His family?

His home?

His next meal?

Did he have a place to rest his head for the night?

I am almost in tears as I think of my dear friend Stewart and the brief moment we shared. I hope that one day when we meet in heaven he can forgive me for not taking him in. It is not that I didn't want to it is just I wasn't in a situation to do so. I pray for Mrs. Turkeylink and little Joey and Sandy Turkeylink. But most of all.. I pray for you Stewart..

Carry on my wayward goose..
there'll be peace when you are done..
lay your weary head to rest..
don't you cry no more.

Inception of Guest Posts: Friend Feature: MakinUVBetter

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Lucky you!

Today features a guest post about a guest post (hence the title)...  By the one and only Jordan Carl Martin Makin: well known for his vibrant hair, infectious laugh and movie reviews on his website, makinuvbetter.com.  check it out!

watch out, kids.

For a while now, Erin has been hounding me to do a guest post for her blog.

Being the incredibly deep thinker that I am, it led me to this question:

What exactly is a "guest post"?

Don't we all "guest post" in others' lives everyday?

Wasn't Voldemort just "guest posting" in Harry's brain all those years?

Didn't the Titanic just "guest post" to the bottom of the Ocean?

Don't rappers "guest post" in other rappers' songs ALL THE TIME?

The blog of the world requires us to guest post and allow guest posts into our own life all the time.

Which kind of guest post are you going to be?

Do you want to be Voldemort or do you wanna be the Titanic? Neither? (to that I say, good choice). Or do you want to be Harry Potter, who constantly guest posts in the way of Ron & Hermione's relationship? [AWKWARD 3RD WHEEL ALERT].

Do you want to be Lil Wayne guest posting in a Weezer song or do you wanna be Eminem guest posting in a Lil Wayne song?? It's a hard choice, right!? It may not even make complete sense. You may not even understand what I am trying to get across.

To that I say, just be a good guest post. Cheer people up, make people laugh, give them something that they can't give themselves.

Also, don't let guest posts into your blog of life that bring you down. Expecto Patronum the Voldemorts (I don't care if that's the wrong spell) and send the Titanics a different way. You can't stop guest posting, you can only learn to control it.

my childhood bff got married!

Monday, July 18, 2011

Suzie Q and I were instant friends since I moved across the street from her in the 2nd grade. We were joined at the hip for years and years. We don't see each other as often as we should, but I love her dearly and I am so excited for her new chapter as Mrs Combs. In all the years I've known her I haven't seen her as happy as she is when she's with her now hubby. It's very sweet. I had the honor of doing the flowers or her wedding. View pictures{here}.

and i am now officially the last of my friends growing up to get married.  holla!
best moment of the night?

"and now the exchange of the rings"

maid of honor, "uhhhh....i left the ring in the dressing room?...."

(note her embarrassed face...)

the entire crowd bursts into laughter
while the father of the bride ran to find it

too funny!

congratulations suzie and jake! love you guys.

over the river and through the woods!
