Rest Stops

Sunday, November 29, 2009

I really wish I would have looked up this website before the roadtrip to California.

3 bathrooms where we stopped were dee-sgust-ing.

1. Some Maverick gas station bathroom in Winnemucca. Stunk. And had cleaning supplies strewn all over which obviously were not used.

2. Some random side street rest area gas station bathroom somewhere in between Sacramento and Reno. SICK. Not only did it stink, but there was graffiti everywhere!

3. On the way home we didn't want to stop at that same Maverick so we kept going to the rest stop (never a good idea) Those bathrooms were just weird! The toilet was so low to the ground there was no need for a stall door, and the little things were metal!

I'm sorry but bathrooms need to meet a certain criteria.

1. They must have working/operating toilets, sinks, etc. And must be well stocked!

2. The floor must look like it's been mopped/cleaned in the last 24 hours. If I feel gross walking on the tiled floor, it is not okay

3. Must be well lit.

4. It must smell nice! If not smelling nice at least have no odor.

5. It wouldn't hurt to have a sitting room like at the Conference center or Nordstrom! Goodness.

All those nasty bathrooms I had to experience did help me draw out a floorplan of "the perfect bathroom", however. So that did take up a good half hour of the 12 hour drive.. But still.

gah.

it seems everywhere I look there are people in like or in love

holding hands
cuddling
smiling into each others eyes
being adorable

I don't understand how they do it.

I can't seem to bring myself to get to that point.

Half of me says if I wanted it enough and if it was right it would just happen.

The other half says I should just stop worrying and go for it.

having a crush doesn't scare me

it's the doing something about it part that freaks me out

what to do, what to do.

I'm off to San Francisco in 4 hours and 45 minutes. I haven't slept a wink, or done an ounce of packing. Will somebody PLEASE motivate me?! I seriously am very excited to be going.. this is my first time to SF after all.. I just feel super lazy right now! I've got a zillion and a half things to do before I go to bed. Which will probably be around the time we leave anyhow. Gah.

In San Fran I will be:

  • Checking out the Art Institute of SF

  • Seeing the Golden Gate Bridge in person for the first time. yay.

  • Going to see Wicked. double yay.

  • Trying on some real Christian Louboutins. My knock offs just aren't cuttin it. If I can't afford them, I'm at least going to try them on. Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus, here I come.

  • Eating Thanksgiving Dinner in a hotel room. eugh. Oh well.

Wish me luck. Happy Blogging for a few days until I get back! Pictures/Updates to come.

Ps I have a wee crush on a boy. Seriously, I haven't had a crush on anyone in probably 4 months. That's a long time. :)

...another dream...this must be a sign

had a dream last night I was at Disneyland. For those of you who know me, know that i LOVE disneyland. Love.

Anyway. I'm at Disney, going crazy when some lady tells me the theater down the street is playing The Princess and the Frog for a limited time (which it is, but only in LA or NYC. grr.) before the movie is actually released on Dec 11. So in my dream, I start bawling out of excitement, run to the theater, and as I sit down to watch the movie... I wake up. Typical.

I cannot wait. Seriously. Don't let me down, Disney. I have really high expectations right now!

19 days.

Also, on a side note... I decided to start up my drawing on shoes business. what do you think of "Erin's Got Sole"? Haha. Play on words? Like it? Hate it? Any other creative ideas? Let me know.

I don't even know right now.

I've started typing 79 different things, and I have no idea what to say. I'm in a venting mood, but I'm not sure this is the right venue for venting. I need some hot chocolate and a Doris Day movie. She always knows what to say to make my day that much better.

Also, I have great friends who listen to me when I have slight emotional breakdowns and have to cry a little. So, thanks for that.. you know who you are.

Anyway.

Pray for me to not be so stressed? Okay thanks bye.

just grateful

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Today was any usual thursday. I left the house around 8am on my way to school.

As I was driving on the freeway, traffic was slowing--also a usual occurance.

I was breaking, and soon realized the cars in front of me were coming to complete stops. I continued to break, and then the van directly in front of me slammed on their brakes. I tried not to slam on my breaks and pulled of slightly so I wouldn't have to slam. The car behind me completely swerved around me and swerved back into the fast lane hitting the van in front of me.
They spun out of control.

I pulled over to the very left hand side and immediately dialed 911, having no clue what to do. The other cars were able to pull over as well, and eventually I did get out of my car to see if the drivers were okay.
The lady driving the van seemed to be very calm and was okay, her car wasn't damaged too badly. The girl who hit the van was bawling hysterically--I don't think she was paying attention at all. I felt so bad for both of them. I also felt so grateful that nobody was hurt and that I was protected this morning! It was a scary thing.

Needless to say, I've been praying all day thanking my Heavenly Father for keeping me safe! I hope those other gals are alright and have been able to breathe and just be thankful it wasn't worse than it was!

hmm.

If you're going to buy a car, think it out before you buy it.

You want to get the best one for you, right? Sure you may have to make some comprimises. Maybe it's not the color you want or maybe it's automatic instead of manual. But if you save all your money and search all your options you're going to be a lot happier than if you just run out and buy the first car you see.

Don't get me wrong, you'd probably still be happy with any old car that works

but think of how much happier you'd be waiting, saving and figuring out the one that fits all your needs and spending the money on the one you know you really want!

I've just been thinking about that.

And applying that story to school, work, boys, an actual car...

I need these.

Just remember.... If you can't say it to someone's face, just say it with a card! :)

That time again!...

My hair has reached the all-awkward stage.

Do I cut it, or grow it out?

My hair is here:(only straight)

should I grow it to someday acheive this:
