if a boy who is 6+ years younger than you tells you to date his friend, it's probably a good idea to say

YEAH RIGHT.

Anxiety is a glimpse of your own daring. Isn't that great? It means that part of your agitation is just excitement about what you're getting ready to accomplish. Don't sell yourself short by being so afraid of failure that you don't dare to make any mistakes.

--Maria Shriver

took this from Katie Couric's The Best Advice I Ever Got.

I am loving it so far.  Makes me want to shoot for the moon even more than I have been before.

a disney world tutorial

Thursday, April 7, 2011

I'm a huge Disney Parks Fan.  I feel like this post is long overdue.  People could argue all day long about if Disneyland Park or Disney World is "better".... the only similarity is that they're Disney parks... but I think they're completely different and I love them both for different reasons.  I could go on about this but that's not the point of this post.

I'mma tell you about what I think the highlights of Disney World are.   I also apologize for how LONG this post is.

Disney World is made up of 4 main theme parks, with 2 water parks and Downtown Disney.  I'm just going to focus on the 4 main parks.

The Magic Kingdom.  That's the one that's most like Disneyland Park with similair/a lot of the same rides.

my mama and I waiting in line for Peter Pan's Flight(in Fantasyland)--one of our favorites!

the siblings and I... brother is now a foot taller than me.. this was 3 years ago.

in front of the castle at Magic Kingdom..Notice how HUGE the castle is!  There's a restaurant inside!

My Favorites at Magic Kingdom:
1.  Space Mountain.  It's the best at Magic Kingdom
2.  Snow White's Scary Adventures
3.  Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor
4.  Mickey's PhilharMagic  A fun 3D show

One of my favorite times at any Disney Park was when we went during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.  If you can--try to go then!

Disney's Animal Kingdom  basically a huge zoo with a few attractions/shows and parades with a Disney flair.  It's super fun, but can be done in half a day!

My favorites:
Anna being eaten by a T Rex in line at Dinosaur, the scariest ride I have ever encountered. it was on this ride where I discovered my true fear of dinosaurs.

Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom.  This is the best ride ever. Ever. Hands Down.

the iconic Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom.  This thing is HUGE.

Disney's Hollywood Studios
My favorites:

Rock n' Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith
The Great Movie Ride
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Beauty and the Beast --Live on stage!
Twilight Zone-Tower of Terror

I love the old Hollywood feel at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Epcot

You have got to see the World Showcase at Epcot.  It's so great and really fun to explore!
Just Chillin in Italy, nbd.

Epcot is known for its miraculous flower gardens!

You probably know Epcot as 'the park with the giant golf ball'.... it's not a golf ball.  It's home to Spaceship Earth

it took me awhile to get on the twitter bandwagon

i didn't understand the point.. i still don't think i do.

but for some reason it is so fun.

the same way facebook was so fun when i first joined.

so.

the twitter.

let me explain it a little bit to you the way i wish someone would have explained it to me.

@fashiontrainee  (this is my username, we'll use as an example)

when i make a tweet (it's kind of like a status update on facebook..) it looks something like this:

 fashiontrainee: i love justin bieber!

or if i wanted to say it specifically to someone i would type their username as well...
or sometimes i like to do it in place of a name

fashiontrainee:  i love justin bieber but probably not as much as @makinuvbetter

this sends the tweet to all my tweeps(i call the people that follow me tweeps?)  and it'll also send it to jordan-makinuvbetter even if he doesn't follow me. okay?

now there are trending tweets which are set apart by this: #

i also use the # as an afterthought..

fashiontrainee: i love justin bieber but probably not as much as @makinuvbetter  #he'sobsessed  #neversaynever

okay.. the #he'sobesessed is my afterthought

and

#neversaynever is a trending tweet

capish?

anyway.. just thought it'd try to explain it to you non-tweeters

so join!  then follow me. and i'll follow you!  it's great fun

happy tweeting!!

also have you seen this video?  josh groban cracks me up..

....so do kanye tweets.

last week I got to babysit the neighbor kids for a few hours

we decided to play the wii

those kids are crazy good at it.  and it was clear that I am not.

so innocently and honestly I said, "you guys are so much better than me at this!"

the younger boy just turned straight to me, came over and as he put his hand on my shoulder sincerely said, "Erin, it's okay.  You're not bad at it.  We just have more practice than you, probably!  And it's okay if you don't win, it's just a game and we're just playing to have fun together!"

It completely caught me off guard.
I love little kids.
I love little reminders like this.

I need to be better at not putting myself down.  That little kid taught me a great lesson that day.

know

how coordinated

my dad is.  Ha. It was quite

the treat.  But seriously you should

check it out.  It's great to play with one other

person or with a plethora of people.

either way it's the bomb dot

com.  And now I'm just

rambling because

I quite enjoy

Wedding Bouquet 101

Saturday, August 14, 2010

Many of you might know that I work at a cute little wedding shop doing the floral orders.

Yesterday alone, we put together

38 centerpieces
approximately 40 boutonniers/ corsages
bridesmaids bouquets

and Bridal Bouquets.

Okay people.

Some Brides are very particular and are looking for a specific look.

That's fine, I used to be ultra picky too... Until I became the one doing the bouquets.  Please just stop caring and let me do my job!

Certain flowers cooperate with me. They are:

Roses

Spray Roses

Dahlias

Lisianthus

Stock

Orchids

Mini Calla Lilies

Freesia

See?  SO many to choose from that are nice flowers.

You will not believe how many brides love the

Asiatic Lily
Hate.

Hate.

Hate is a strong word.

REALLY dislike.

Here are reasons why you should not choose this in your bridal bouquet.

  • They are HUGE and take over the whole bouquet.
  • The pollen stains EVERYTHING... Including your white wedding dress. (okay that's not a huge deal.. we take out the pollen. But Still. MY hands are stained, not your white dress. You're Welcome.)
  • They are very hard to create a bouquet with, the stems do not cooperate. You have to work around THEM and I do not like that plan.

So don't choose them.

Tell your engaged friends.

Bridal Gown Guide: Silhouettes

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Okay. I seriously could have this post go on fooorrevverrr. BUT I narrowed it down to only silhouettes. If you have questions about what will look good on your body type, which colors will work best on your skin tone, sleeves, where to look, price ranges (on ANY clothing, not just wedding gowns) Just email me or post a comment on here and I would be more than happy to answer your fashiony questions! :)
Silhouettes
I don't know that you can see the numbers for the above Silhouettes.. Anyway, You'll see these silhouettes everywhere. I've included pictures of what everything looks like, also, and what's considered trendy as of now in the bridal fashion world!

1. Sheath

Characteristics: Comes straight down from waistline
Ruffles/Layers are very popular now. This dress is a little dramatic; you'll usually see this done in moderation. I tried to find exaggerated versions of the dresses :)
Simplicity.

Short dresses. Very in. Not traditional at all... But still done! Hm!

2. Sheath-Empire Waistline
Characteristics: Same as Sheath, but with a waistline that comes just under the bust or at the natural waistline.

I LOVE this dress. I love how drapey it is. I love the flower detailing(very in right now). And this dress would be ultra flattering on just about anyone. So pretty!

3. Ball Gown
Characteristics: Very full skirt. This is the most traditional silhouette for a wedding gown.

4. A Line

Flowered details, and different ways to add interest are very chic. Whether it be a different fabric, textile, different color somewhere; you'll see the extra oomph of interest in a lot of gowns lately.

Like I said. Simplistic dresses are so chic and very classic. I love that this vintage-classic look is coming back.

5. Mermaid

Sorry I couldn't really find a picture that I loved to post. And this site wouldn't let me save this picture to my computer :)
