I was planning on being Miss Frizzle for Halloween. 

and then last minute I changed my mind. 

I started as Pirate 

then that switched to Belle

from there quickly turned to Hot Nerd

but then I realized I look like that every day (heh heh)

and so what else was I supposed to be with only 4 minutes to spare?

(i am a major procrastinator.)

i understand this isn't a wonderful picture of my Papacito(actually this is one of my favorites of him and my mamacita.), but you can see in this picture his famous black rim glasses.  and the hat I'm wearing was actually his.  :)  I'm sad I didn't get to know him while he was still here.  Someday!  Love you Papacito!

Autumn Air

In the midst of all this hot summery weather there have been a handful of cool evenings I've enjoyed.  Reminds me that Fall is just around the river bend.

I love fall.  Everything about it.

Mmmm. Can't wait.  I've already posted about this.  Maybe this will make you realize how much I truly love it.

November, why can't you come sooner?

If you asked me which month is my favorite, I will tell you October.  Every time.  But reasons why I love October is for another post.

Google Where Did Valentines Day Come From

I would copy/paste what I found on here... But unfortunately my computer is having mass chaotic issues and it will not allow me to do such a thing.

In short, Valentines day originates from this ancient roman man, St. Valentine (go figure) who was martyred for not giving up his Christianity. (go team) He died on February 14. He had written a letter to the jailer's daughter the day he died and signed it "from your Valentine".

Over the years 2/14 became a day of exchanging love messages. In the 1800's, the first commercial valentine cards were introduced..

I think they should have told me the story of Valentines day a LOT sooner. I appreciate it so much better now..

In my mind, valentines day was a day for:

a bunch of girls at school getting roses. Except me, of course.

cheesey stuffed animals holding hearts that say "i wuv you" and ridiculousness like that.

heart shaped boxes of chocolate I was not recieving.

I'm sure you feel my pain in the many single years of Valentines day coming and going.

I learned to hate February 14 and all that came along with it. I still don't look forward to Happy Heart Day, even though as I've gotten older I do enjoy making cards and writing my own versions of love notes to my friends, how much I appreciate them in my life and what have you.

I really hope I don't get anything cheesey. There is nothing worse than a cheesey Valentines day gift.

If you are contemplating what to get me this year and happen to be reading this post, here are some ideas:

a hair accessory or two

lip gloss. simple. always necessary.

new shoes

perfume. mm.

even flowers. Flowers are never cheesey and always make my day.

Alright. I'm going to try to have a positive outlook this year.

I may even wear a color other than black!

Last July I had the opportunity to go to WashingtonDC for my first time! 1. It was amazing. 2. I had an appreciation for my country and all the freedoms I enjoy before, but after going there and learning more about American history and what Freedom really is all about in that setting I LOVE America. We really live in the best country in the world.

The thing that really stood out to me in DC was the phrase Freedom Isn't Free. It was everywhere. I never really thought about it, and had always taken it for granted. I am so thankful for brave soldiers who go and fight for our freedom. Our soldiers even go fight for other countries freedoms as well! Think about it. America is the Best.
